To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, a tree-planting ceremony has taken place at Barr Beacon Nature Reserve. It was organised as part of the AJR - The Association of Jewish Refugees special project entitled '80 Trees for 80 Years', which offers the opportunity to sponsor the planting of a tree in memory of a loved one in a location that is meaningful to Jewish refugees’ and survivors’ arrival, history and lives in the UK. The ceremony was attended by Councillor Rose Martin, Deputy Mayor of Walsall, Gary Zucker (the sponsor), Marilyn from AJR and many others.
