Interfaith Week - Sumanjit Johal

My name is Sumanjit Johal. I am the director of Creative Cohesion CIC formerly known as Art Sikh.

In the fabric of humanity, we have more in common that unites us, than that which divides us.

All faiths in their essence have an intrinsic nature to perceive the Human Race as one.

Interfaith dialogues increase our awareness & appreciation of multi-cultural, heritage, faith & belief differentiations within our communities.

Interfaith events endorse acceptance, involvement & collaboration with diverse cultural, heritage, faith & belief groups within our communities.

Families from diverse social & cultural backgrounds have an enhanced sense of belonging and acceptance in their local communities and society as a whole. United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

My favourite verse from scripture:

‘Someone is Hindu and someone a Muslim, then someone is Shia, and someone a Sunni, Recognize the whole of human race as one.’ Guru Gobind Singh Ji (tenth Guru of the Sikhs)

This verse reminds me that service to humanity is the basic principle of all faith and beliefs and that all humans belong to one race. Together we have more in common that unites us than the differences that divide us.

Artwork created by Creative Cohesion CIC (formerly known as Art Sikh).

Creative Cohesion CIC aims to celebrate faith & belief unity with community cohesion through the creative arts. We are grateful to be able to work with artists from diverse backgrounds and communities who support and work with us. Creative Cohesion encourages communities as a whole to learn and appreciate the diverse faiths and beliefs that culturally enhance our society. We have a history of delivering projects with a diverse community, faith, and belief groups in supporting human rights, interfaith learning and community cohesion projects working with various charities, organisations and local council authorities.

I would encourage everyone to attend various local events and forums to learn more about every faith and belief and by doing so engage with their own local community groups to form friendships.
